UCLA-ASTN Strategic Management Research Project

ASTN and UCLA Anderson collaborated on a strategic management research project investigating Fan Experience Technologies for Brisbane 2032. A group of Executive MBA students conducted research on how innovative technology can be applied to the fan experience to drive Brisbane 2032’s brand and economic legacy. As a benchmark, students referenced initiatives deployed at LA28.

Comparing Brisbane 2032 with LA28

As part of the project, students investigated

  • How the tech stack for LA28 compares with announcements from Brisbane 2032
  • What procurement and engagement model in relation to technology Brisbane 2032 may consider
  • How should Brisbane design its digital fan experience (Olympic ID, wayfinding, payments, personalization) for a dispersed network
  • How are creator-driven media and new content forms reshaping fan engagement
  • What fan experience features will Gen Z and Gen Alpha expect by 2032
  • How Games-time technology investments can translate into lasting tourism, connectivity, and economic outcome for Brisbane, Queensland and Australia.

Congratulations to the UCLA EMBA students, Aline Mardelli, Neil Champagne, Samuel Jacques and Sam Selby for outstanding their work. This research has delivered a significant body of insights and recommendations that ASTN is excited to carry forward, to inform our ongoing work and creating further value for our network and stakeholders.
