Streaming has created a whole new world of ways to build viewership. Content rights holders are building alternate broadcasts and immersive experiences featuring several camera angles combined with data-rich feeds. However, streaming content is not limited to major leagues, professional clubs or emerging sports. Instead, streaming of junior or school sports provides the ability for parents, grandparents and alumni alike to connect and watch family members compete in sporting events. Importantly, such streaming portals are setup in ways to comply with child safety standards and protect privacy using ASTN member company Layercake.
The use of XR and AR studio environments has become a global phenomenon and is changing the nature of major broadcasting studio shows during major events. From automated overlay graphics, to virtual studio extensions and multi-faceted data dashboards, scalable production in the cloud is assisting content production at a new scale and economics. ASTN member company Champion Data shared their examples of data-driven storytelling. Other ASTN member companies like 5Stream are providing cloud prodcution tools to content rights holders.
Engagement with women’s sport in Australia continues to increase as demonstrated by the Matildas and Women’s State of Origin. Coverage of AFL-W has grown more than 31% and women’s Cricket skyrocketed by 87%. As sponsors of women’s sports enjoy higher brand perception and favorability, sporting codes are now looking to translate the increased interest into growing participation in their respective sport.
