ASTN and AJBCC started the Japan Sports Bsuiness Delegation with three busy days in Tokyo. Activities kicked off with a Japan market entry and structuring workshop delivred by Baker McKenzie, a overview of Japan’s sports streaming, broadcasting and media landscape by DAZN and a sportstech innovations and sports team ownership discussion with Fujitsu.
A visit to the Japan High Performance Center discussing applications of technology to drive performance, was followed up with a market briefing by Austrade followed and rounded off with a networking event at the Australian embassy. Events in Tokyo concluded with Insights into Japan’s sports retailing market showcased by leading sports retailer Xebio Sports.
The second leg continued with visits to Osaka and Kobe on 24-25 April. Highlights from the 2 days included some great market insights shared by the Japanese hosts and presentations from the Australian delegates showcasing world-class sports innovation.
- Mizuno sharing how they have started working with startups through Mizuno Engine. Great to be welcomed by the President of Mizuno Corporation Mr Akira Mizuno.
- Nakashima Qross showing how they have developed a health and medical innovation hub in collaboration multiple stakeholder groups including startups.
- Dunlop highlighting the development of their golf and tennis brands market and surrounding ecosystem
- Innovation Dojo providing insights on market entry pathways for Australian sports startups.
